Examples include minor cuts, uncomplicated strains or sprains, and other non-emergency injuries that need an examination. The right setting depends on the injury and symptoms. Call first if you are unsure whether the clinic can address your specific problem; some injuries need emergency or specialist care.

Tell us how the injury happened

Explain the task you were doing, when the injury occurred, the body area affected and whether symptoms have changed. Your clinician will assess the injury and discuss treatment and follow-up. Bring relevant prior records, medication information and a description of your usual physical job duties.

Work status and follow-up

When clinically appropriate, documentation may address activity limits and whether you need reassessment before resuming particular tasks. Recommendations depend on the examination and your job demands. A visit does not automatically mean clearance for unrestricted work or approval of a compensation claim.

Bring employer and claim information

Report the injury to your employer and ask what information is needed for the visit. Bring your employer’s contact details, workers’ compensation insurer, claim number if assigned, adjuster details and any authorization or forms. If a claim number is not yet available, call the clinic to discuss next steps.

Severe injuries need emergency care

Call 911 or go to an emergency department for uncontrolled bleeding, major trauma, serious head injury, loss of consciousness, severe breathing difficulty or a visibly deformed limb. Report chemical exposure or a needlestick promptly and seek immediate guidance about the appropriate treatment setting.
