Thyroid Disorder Evaluation & Management
An abnormal thyroid test or symptoms such as unexplained fatigue can raise questions about your health.
Zenith Primary & Urgent Care in Marlborough offers adult primary care evaluation of thyroid concerns and follow-up for appropriate thyroid conditions. We review symptoms, test results and current treatment to decide the next step.

Symptoms worth discussing
Thyroid problems can affect energy, temperature tolerance, bowel habits, weight or heart rate. These changes can also have many other causes. Tell the clinician about the pattern and duration of your symptoms rather than assuming they are due to the thyroid.
How evaluation begins
A visit includes a medical history and an examination when needed. Depending on the situation, blood tests such as thyroid-stimulating hormone and thyroid hormone levels may be appropriate. Bring previous results and tell us about thyroid surgery, radiation treatment, pregnancy or plans for pregnancy.
Follow-up for an underactive thyroid
For patients with hypothyroidism, follow-up may include reviewing symptoms, thyroid blood tests and how a prescribed medicine is taken. Other medicines and supplements can affect treatment or testing. Bring the exact names and doses, including biotin-containing supplements, and follow the clinician’s instructions about preparation for tests.
When specialist input may be needed
An overactive thyroid, a thyroid lump, unusual test results or difficulty maintaining stable treatment may need additional evaluation or specialist care. Your clinician can explain the reason for a referral. A routine office visit does not replace ultrasound, biopsy or specialist treatment when those are indicated.
Prepare for a useful follow-up
Bring your medicine bottles or an updated list, your pharmacy details and any recent outside records. Write down the questions you want answered, including changes since a previous dose adjustment. Do not change thyroid medication on your own based on symptoms alone.
What to Bring to Your Visit
- Previous thyroid test results
- Medication and supplement names and doses
